A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.
While perhaps not at the identical stature as granting clemency to Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a presidential-style act this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.
“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”
The gathering, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.
The animal, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – deriving from a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.
“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It embodies the spirit of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”
Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
