British Katie Boulter says she feels she has to "pick between my physical health and my world standing" as the scramble continues for a position in next January's Australian Open primary competition.

While the typical WTA Tour season is completed, there are still ranking points to be won in Chile, Argentina, various venues and France.

The female competitor lineup for the opening Grand Slam of the forthcoming season will be based on the world rankings of early December, which could create a challenging situation for players near the selection threshold.

Injury Concerns

Ex- British top-ranked player Boulter suffered an abductor in her concluding competition of the year in international locations last period, and is now considering whether to compete in the WTA 125 Challenger event in French locations, the European nation, in the first week of December.

Boulter's ongoing health concern, and the situation she would need to secure at least three matches in the European event to boost her standing, means she may well ultimately not playing.

Different Systems

In opposition, male athletes are not experiencing the identical dilemma, as for the first time the men's Australian Open participant roster will be created from present week's rankings, which is the ATP's formal year-end position determination.

The modification is aimed at preventing players from chasing position points during what is essentially the off-season.

Coaching Changes

This season has been a demanding one for Boulter.

She achieved merely 14 elite main-draw games and currently split with trainer Biljana Veselinovic after a three-year partnership in which she won several WTA titles.

"Biljana is an outstanding trainer, and an extremely excellent individual as well, which makes things particularly challenging," Boulter stated.

The pursuit for a new instructor is currently ongoing, seeking someone who has high-level expertise as Boulter maintains the belief she can be a world-class competitor.

Professional Aspirations

"Going forward with a different trainer, one thing I'm completely sure on is that they are going to be someone who has a lot of expertise in how to make it to the highest echelon of this profession," she said.

"I've been positioned as elevated as 23 and I am confident I can return to that level. I don't believe my level has disappeared, I believe the steadiness must improve.

"My goal is not to be placed fifty, 40, thirty, twenty - we've been there. The goal is to be within the elite group."
