Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
