Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his position following a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
